Role Overview
As a computational biology specialist, you will design and implement data analysis pipelines that combine information from various biological sources. Your work will support scientific discovery by providing insights through advanced computational techniques.
Main Duties
- Develop and maintain automated workflows for analyzing data from different omics fields (such as genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics).
- Ensure all computational processes are well-documented and version-controlled.
- Use statistical and machine learning methods to interpret large-scale biological data.
- Create visual representations of data to clearly communicate research findings.
- Stay informed about new bioinformatics tools and emerging trends in computational biology.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, especially for data analysis and visualization.
- Practical experience working with multi-omics datasets and integrating diverse types of biological data.
- Understanding of biological networks, including gene and protein interactions.
- Ability to generate informative and visually appealing data graphics.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of graph theory as it applies to biological systems.
- Solid background in statistics and data interpretation.
- Familiarity with cloud computing services and containerization technologies.
Educational Background
- Degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a closely related field.
- Three to five years of relevant work experience in biological data analysis.
